Irving Oil Applies For New Set-Up

Irving Oil has applied to the Department of the Environment to hook up a bio-refinery at it's refinery site in East Saint John.

The proposed plant is intended to produce 120 million liters of biodiesel which will be made from refurbished cooking grease, animal fats, vegetable oils and agricultural seed oils.

Officials tell us an Environmental Impact Assessment review typically takes between three and four months to finish up.

The public is also invited to send in it's comments on the proposal.
