Red Hat Hoot Parade

Over 600 women are in town for the Red Hat Hoot in the Port City this weekend.

Members of the social group are coming from Maine, Nova Scotia and other parts of this province for the weekend conference.

Dawn Steeves is a Red Hatter and she tells CHSJ News the idea for the group came from a poem written by a woman back in 1931.

The entire group of Red Hatters will meet at King Square this morning at 10 for a parade down King Street to Market Square where they will be met by Mayor Ivan Court.

The conference wraps up on Sunday afternoon.
