The fate of the new police headquarters building at Peel Plaza will be decided tonight at a special meeting of Common Council. Mayor Ivan Court says the low bid to construct the two storey building has come in at 20.7 million dollars. He's all in favour but as for the rest of Council, the Mayor believes they will be satisfied with what's on the table. This project first came into being when Norm McFarlane was Mayor. Deputy Mayor Stephen Chase has been vocal in his opposition and is expected to vote against. Court accuses the opponents of exaggerating the final cost in an attempt to bolster their arguments. The project first came to fruition during the term of former Mayor Norm McFarlane.
