Vendor Supports Berth Expansion

The Saint John Port Authority's plan to expand cruise ship berths would affect more than just port users.

The port wants to renovate the Pugsley C. Terminal and Long Wharf to accommodate larger cruise ships.

Darlene Singh is a vendor who sells homemade crafts to cruise ship passengers at the open market in Loyalist Plaza and tells CHSJ News she supports the expansion.

Singh says the market gets about 10 per cent of the cruise ship passengers who come through and says she's seen the customer base grow along with the industry.

Singh says something with that many economic spin offs would benefit all of Saint John, not just people working in the cruise ship industry.
