New Turbines Already On Order For Point Lepreau

Point Lepreau will be needing new turbines sooner rather than later because of the incident where two turbines fell into the Bay of Fundy in the fall of 2008.

Station Director Wade Parker says the turbines will need to be replaced after two operating cycles because they were never meant to be under water.

Parker says replacement turbines have already been ordered, but there won't be time to install the new ones during the current Point Lepreau Refurbishment, so it will have to happen in a future outage.
