Police Nab Two In Connection To Armed Robberies

Two men are in police custody in connection with two armed robberies last week.  A masked gunman robbed the Somerset Pub last Tuesday and the Colonial Inn on Thursday.

The pair were pulled over in Rothesay on the Marr Road early yesterday around 5:30 and were charged with possession of stolen merchandise by Rothesay Regional Police.  They were then handed over to the Saint John Police Force.

Both men are in the 20's.

Meanwhile, city fire crews battling two car fires on Demille Street on the city's west side.  The call came in around 11:30 last night.  No one was hurt and the fires are considered to be suspicious.

Rockwood Park Offering Labour Day Activities

If you're looking for a place to celebrate Labour Day tomorrow, Rockwood Park is offering some activities to wet your whistle.

Beginning at 11, there will be free boat rentals and face painting at Lily Lake.  There will also be pony rides and wagon trips later in the afternoon as well as a DJ beach party for kids.

September Should Bring Warm Temperatures

With the end of August giving us a small brush of a hurricane, how will the month of September hold up?

Meteorologist Chris Scott tells CHSJ News we can expect warm and comfortable temperatures for the month.

He the average high will be about 18 degrees and the colder temperatures typically don't hit until November.

Scott says you can expect temperatures around 18 degrees, which is perfect for any outdoor activity.
