Natural Resources Minister Bruce Northrup says early numbers indicate over 3500 moose were harvested, an increase of 44 per cent over last fall.
Since 2010, over 1000 hunting licences have been added, many in areas with a high number of moose/vehicle accidents in an effort to reduce collisions.
Over 4700 hunters were licensed for the Sept 27th to 29th hunt and about 75 per cent of them bagged a moose.
