BREAKING NEWS - One Dead After Baxter's Corner Shooting

The RCMP confirming one person is dead and at least two people wounded after a shooting outside a home on Route 820 at Baxter's Corner.

There are unconfirmed reports there was some sort of dispute which sparked the gun fire.

One man is in custody after being arrested at his home and he may also be wounded.


The Mounties were bringing in an Emergency Response Team but the man is said to have surrendered after a call from negotiators.

Prisoner Released From Jail By Mistake

The Provincial Government is conducting a review of what went wrong after the early release of an inmate last month from the Regional Jail on the Old Black River Road.
    

The Department of Public Safety reports the inmate was released October 15th before being arrested by City Police on an unrelated matter November 4th.
    

Public Safety Minister Robert Trevors said the unidentified inmate was let out by mistake but he didn't offer any further details.

Stabbing In City And High Speed Chase In Valley

Another stabbing in the city is under investigation by City Police.

This one happened on the east side shortly before 2:30 this morning at 535 Ellerdale Street. A 21 year old man is in hospital in stable condition after being operated on and an 18 year old man is under arrest.

Rothesay Regional Police reporting they arrested two men after a high speed chase along the McKay Highway. It came to a conclusion on the Dolan Road and no one was injured. Police say the pair will be facing lots of charges. 


Police in the K-V also arresting two men and one woman for possession of drugs at the end of Gondola Point Road.
