Environment Canada Determines Strength Of Tornado

Environment Canada has determined the strength of the confirmed twister that ripped through the Grand Lake area on Saturday.

The weather service has classified the tornado as an EF-1 tornado, meaning it produced winds between 135 and 175 kilometres an hour. They make up 25% of all tornadoes.

They say the twister touched down near Jemseg, tracking east. They say the damage includes at least three destroyed barns in the Whites Cove area, and another in Cambridge Narrows. Debris from that barn was picked up and carried over 300 metres away. However, nobody was seriously hurt.
