Over $100 Million To Treat Saint John's Water

The days of boil water orders in Saint John may soon be over.

The federal and provincial governments making a combined investment of $114.6 million for a Safe Drinking Water Project. It will be the biggest infrastructure project in the city's history and the first water project ever funded by P3 Canada. The project will include a new treatment plant, 3 new storage tanks, and over a dozen transmission system improvements.
 
Saint John MP Rodney Weston telling the crowd the people of Saint John have waited a long time for this announcement adding we kept our eye on the ball.

Premier David Alward says this announcement represents a historic day for the city adding it's a project that will create construction jobs and help rebuild the economy.

The politicians joining Mayor Norton for the long-awaited announcement at City hall today. Work is expected to start in early to mid 2015 and it will be finished in 2018.
