Fluoride Motion Struck Down

Love it or hate it--common council has voted to remove fluoride from our drinking water, and we won't be asking the province to examine the amount of money to be saved in healthcare costs by fluoridation, either.

Common Councillor John MacKenzie saying he's concerned by all the discussion of tooth decay, and maybe we should ask the province to examine any healthcare savings possible from adding fluoride.

Common Councillor Greg Norton pointed out P3 would need to be notified if council has changed its mind--and besides, water is the responsibility of the municipality.

In the end, the motion was defeated with all but MacKenzie, Councillor Gerry Lowe, and Councillor Susan Fullerton voting against.
