Gas Tax Money Helping To Pay For New Arena In Rothesay

Rothesay Arena will be turned into a fieldhouse that will be used for volleyball and basketball after a new arena is built nearby at a cost of 13 million dollars divided equally between the town, province and federal government.

Mayor Bill Bishop says there will be a walking track included as well as an ice rink when the new arena opens in 2015.

Saint John M-P Rodney Weston says funding is coming from the enhanced municipal gas tax fund.

Weston says he has met with Mayor Mel Norton about how the city can get money from this same fund to construct a Fourplex.
