Power Expected To Be Restored By Friday Morning If Not Sooner

Power crews are trying to fix 16 remaining outages in the Rothesay Region, including the Kingston Peninsula affecting just 77 customers. 

Most of those without power are in Bayswater and there's no indication when electricity there will be restored. The latest estimate from NB Power is by early Friday morning, if not sooner.
 

There are still 19 outages in the St Stephen region affecting 126 customers with most back on line by late tonight but for some others, it might not be until early Friday morning.
 

There are 5 outages in the Sussex area, mostly in Havelock and Canaan Forks, affecting 318 customers. There is no estimate on when power will be restored.

Current Power Outages

 In the Rothesay region, there are currently 340 customers without power and 181 customers in the St. Stephen region.

 Due to the extreme cold weather conditions, NB Power is asking the public to check up on anyone you suspect doesn't have power and make sure they are safe.

Saint John Police Picking Up Fewer Drunk Drivers This New Year's Eve

Saint John police picking up very few impaired drivers during the city's New Year's celebrations. 

One impaired driver was charged last night. They tell CHSJ News, normally about four or five drunk drivers are caught on New Year's Eve.

Police in the Kennebecasis Valley say there were no impaired drivers charged overnight.


Two Women Taken To Hospital After Collision In Rothesay


A 23-year-old woman and a 51-year-old woman being taken to hospital with injuries, after a collision in Rothesay.

 It happened at the intersection of 119 Millennium Drive, at approximately 7:45 pm. 

Both women were in the same vehicle, which collided with a truck.

Police tell us, it appears one of the vehicles disobeyed a traffic signal when turning on  route 110.

Overnight Fire In Garnett Settlement



The Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department assisting Simonds Fire Department overnight, after a mobile home caught fire in Garnett Settlement.

Occupants escaped the home safely, and the damage done to the home is repairable.
